Sirimon route provides the easiest way to the top and is the quickest going down. It takes the hiker through the mountain rain-forests, moorland vegetation and the alpine vegetation which include the giant heather, giant groundsel and giant lobelia. You hike up the Likii Valley and then into Mackinders valley where there is a spectacular views of the main peaks.

Day 1 Nairobi/Nanyuki - Sirimon Gate - Old Moses Camp
Mount Kenya is a favorite for hikers due to its snow-capped peaks, breathtaking scenery, and the challenge it presents.
07:30AM: Depart Nanyuki town for a transfer to Mount Kenya Sirimon gate.
08:00AM: Upon arrival at the gate we follow the check in formalities and once’s we are done we get a group photo and board our car for another 20 mins drive to Old Moses camp also called judmeier camp at situated at 3300m asl .
08:20AM: Quick body strech up exercise and begin our trek our hike. We follow the designated trail that leads to Shipton camp. We traverse through the heath amd morland led by our mountain guide Charles who will tell you about the flora and fauna surrounding you. During the trek you’ll catch sight of some beautiful birds.
11:30AM: We reach the Mackinders valley view point which is at an elevation of 3800m asl. We enjoy an breathtaking view of the main peaks and the roaring sound of Nanyuki river that flows through the Mackinder’s valley.
We will also have our lunch here as we take photos.
12:45PM: We descend down back to old moses camp to catch our car for a transfer back to Nanyuki.
5:30PM: Drop off in Nanyuki town marking the end of our adventurous.
