Day 01: Nairobi - Naromoru Gate (2,400m asl) - Met Station (3,050m asl)

Hiking Distance: 9Km
Duration: 3.5hrs
An early morning departure from Nairobi at 8am. Transfer to Mount Kenya National Park at Naro Moru Gate for registration and where the hike starts, 2600m. From the gate, keep to the park track, which follows the crest of a board ridge between the Northern and Southern Naro Moru valleys. The going is easy and it’s a pleasant walking through the forest. About two thirds of the way up after the bridge there are good views to the left north down into the Northern Naro Moru valley. The trek ends at Met station 3,048m asl where dinner and overnight rest will be.

Day 02: Met Station - Mackinder's Camp (4,300m asl)

Hiking Distance: 12Km
Duration: 6hrs
A short walk at the end of the forest from where you hike across the marshy vertical bog of the lower moorlands. Picnic lunch at
the rocks before continuing further to Mackinder’s camp, gaining 1,300m in altitude in about 5hours. Dinner and overnight at
Mackinder’s camp.

Day 03: Mackinder's Camp - Point Lenana (4,985m asl) - Met Station Camp (3,050m asl)

Hiking Distance: 24Km
Duration: 11hrs
The normal approach is to continue the ascent to the Lenana summit at 2am to reach the Lenana Point after about 4 hours with
sunrise at 6:30am. We are at the third highest point of Mount Kenya, which can be climbed without alpine climbing equipment.
The sunrise is impressive. The breathtaking towers of Batian and Nelion above the Lewis glacier are bathed in golden yellow
light and behind the African savannah you can see the summit of Kilimanjaro 200 km away on a clear day.
After sunrise, then descent to Mackinder’s camp for breakfast, 2 hours and another 4 hours return to the Met station for dinner
and overnight stay.

Day 04: Met Station Camp - KWS Naromoru gate - Nairobi

Hiking Distance: 9Km
Duration: 2hrs
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest which is 9km to Mount Kenya National Park's Naro Moru Gate at 2,600m. Here, you will connect with your transport back to Nairobi arriving at approximately 3pm.
